Purpose of Flushing Scheme for Mechanical Seals
Direct injection of liquid into the high-pressure side of a double or single mechanical seal is called"flushing". General pumps should be flushed, especially light hydrocarbon pumps.
1. Rinse to dissipate heat. The heat generated by the liquid seal must be controlled. This can be achieved by flushing the sealed cavity with a kind of liquid to remove heat and control the temperature rise.

2. Lower the liquid temperature. In some cases, the liquid temperature is so high that it affects the sealing performance of the mechanical seal. In such cases, the temperature must be lowered to improve the properties of the liquid.

3. Change the seal chamber pressure. In some cases it may be necessary to increase or decrease seal chamber pressure to improve performance. This can be achieved by suppressing evaporation or reducing the thermal load on the mechanical seal.

4. Clean the process liquid. If the process fluid contains inappropriate solid particles or contaminants, the fluid inside the seal chamber needs to be cleaned. In extreme cases, it may also be necessary to supply clean fluid from outside the mechanical sealing system.

5. Control the atmospheric side of the mechanical seal.As process liquids come into contact with the atmosphere, they may dry out, crystallize or coke. It is important to prevent interaction with the atmosphere so as not to adversely affect sealing performance of the mechanical seal.
