4. Background
The mechanical seal single spring does not mean that it can be used immediately. There are several essential checks before installation:
a. Verification and validation: Firstly, confirm that the model, specifications, material, and equipment working conditions of the mechanical seal single spring are completely matched. Secondly, check whether there are scratches or broken edges on the sealing surfaces of the dynamic and static rings, and whether the auxiliary sealing ring (O-ring) is aging or deformed.
b. Check equipment accuracy: Measure the radial runout, axial displacement, and perpendicularity of the pump shaft or sleeve, as well as the sealing chamber, to ensure compliance with the form and position tolerance requirements for sealing installation. For mechanical seal single spring the axial displacement is generally required to not exceed ± 0.5mm, otherwise it will cause unstable spring pressure, leading to leakage or abnormal wear of the end face.
c. Strictly observe the positioning clamps: It is absolutely forbidden to remove the transportation positioning clamps in advance. This clamp is used to secure the dynamic ring component and maintain the preset spring compression before installation. Early dismantling can lead to inaccurate compression and leakage upon startup.
