What is the sealing face width of the mechanical seal

The sealing face width of the mechanical seal is also an important macro-geometric parameter. The frictional heat generated when the sealing end face is working is related to its width. If the sealing surface is too wide, the heat generated during friction will increase, which will increase the temperature rise of the sealing surface; if the sealing surface is too narrow, the contact specific pressure of the sealing surface will increase, which will increase the wear of the end surface and increase the leakage. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively consider various factors to select the appropriate sealing surface width.
