Mechanical seals are used to prevent process fluids from leaking or escaping outwards when fluid leaks and volatiles escape and are harmful to the environment. To prevent the process fluid from escaping  to the largest degree, zero-escape sealing technology must be promoted.

Therefore, in the arrangement of the fluid sealing system , countries all over the world attach great importance to the application of zero-escape sealing technology.The fluid sealing system is arranged in accordance with the guidelines of SP-30 (1994) Regulations for the Control of Volatile Emissions for Rotating Machinery with Mechanical Seals formulated by the Sealing Technology Committee (STC) of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE).

The research on the zero-escape sealing technology, the research and development of the zero-escape sealing system, the zero-escape sealing and the auxiliary measures for the zero-escape sealing are the top priorities. For petrochemicals, some key equipments, such as turbo compressors, steam turbines, and stirring tanks must be sealed with zero escaping gas blocking, and critical hazardous liquid pumps must be sealed with zero escaping gas blocking or dry running zero escaping sealing and suppression seal.
