Influence of initial force deformation on temperature field of mechanical seal

When the mechanical seal is under normal operation, frictional heat is generated due to mutual fit and relative rotation of the rotary face and stationary seat, resulting in an increase in the temperature of the sealing rings, especially the sealing end faces.The temperature rise of the sealing rings will cause a series of problems, such as rise of the end face temperature may cause the liquid film to vaporize, resulting in instable work of the mechanical seal; Wear of the sealing end faces is intensified, and service life of the mechanical seal is shortened;  Temperature gradients in the sealing rings are increased, resulting in thermal deformation, changing the lubrication and contact states of the end faces, and thus increasing wear and leakage between the end faces of the mechanical seal; When the thermal stress between the sealing end faces is too large, it will also lead to thermal cracking of the end faces of the mechanical seal. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the temperature field of mechanical seals.

Many scholars have studied temperature fields of friction pairs of mechanical seals, but due to  complicated structure, boundary conditions and deformation of sealing rings, the traditional indirect coupling method often assumes that sealing end faces are parallel, while they are actually affected by medium pressure before operation. When ignoring initial force deformation, although calculation will be  simplified, calculation accuracy is reduced, especially when the mechanical seals are at high temperature, Under high pressure conditions, deviations of the calculation results are relatively large.
