Background Knowledge:
Difficulties in measuring the temperature of the friction end faces of mechanical seals
The current research shows that the measurement of the friction end faces temperature of mechanical seals has the following difficulties: first, the gap between the rotary face and stationary seat is very small, which is not enough to insert the temperature sensor; Second, the retention time of the friction temperature of the end faces is so short that it is impossible to measure their temperatures by moving one of the end faces successively; Third, the method of measuring temperature by drilling blind holes at the rear end of the stationary seat has high requirements on processing; Fourth, it is  difficult to popularize and apply the existing non-contact measurement methods. Therefore, researchers still need to do further research on the testing technology of mechanical seal end face temperature.
