4. Background
The cartridge seal parts pre installs components such as the moving ring, stationary ring, and spring into a sealed chamber, and installs them as a whole onto the pump shaft. The cooling principle is mainly achieved through the following methods:
Rinsing is a common method for mechanical seal cooling, which involves introducing external fluid or internal medium circulation to remove heat.
The extremely thin liquid film (end face liquid film) formed between the end faces of mechanical seals plays a crucial role in balancing pressure and lubricating the end faces. The presence of liquid film can reduce direct friction between end faces and decrease the heat generated by friction. At the same time, the fluid flow in the liquid film can also take away some heat. If the liquid film fails (such as dry friction caused by the absence of liquid film), it will lead to increased wear and generate a large amount of frictional heat, ultimately damaging the mechanical seal. Therefore, ensuring the normal formation of liquid film through cooling and lubrication is an important step in cooling.
The cartridge seal parts adopts a balanced design, and its structural feature is that all parts are combined into one, and the spring does not come into contact with the material. The balanced type, internal flow, and positioning block can adjust the compression amount of the spring. This design can reduce the direct impact and corrosion of the sealing chamber medium on components such as springs, indirectly helping to maintain the stable operation and heat control of the sealing system. In addition, the compact design of the cover meets the process requirements and further assists in cooling by processing flushing holes and other methods under limited available space conditions.
