To ensure accurate compression of single acting seal , the key lies not in a fixed value, but in accurately calculating the size chain and strictly following a standardized measurement and installation process.

a. Core logic: Pushing 'installation location' backwards from 'total compression'
The essence of this method is to install it using a dimension chain calculation approach: first determine the required working compression amount, and then based on this, deduce the specific position where the sealing seat should be installed on the shaft sleeve. The specific operation is divided into three steps:

Determine the total compression amount: First, measure the total length of the mechanical seal when the spring is completely relaxed (free state) and fully compressed (compressed state), and the difference between the two is the total compression amount of this mechanical seal. This is the total 'budget'.

c. Set the work compression amount: Set aside a portion of the total compression amount budget as the actual required work compression amount for operation. There is no unified standard for this value, it is mainly determined based on the flow rate and pressure of the pump based on experience.

d. Finding the installation reference surface: This is the most crucial step and also the key point of that patent - selecting the shaft sleeve and impeller sealing surface as the measurement reference surface.
