How to choose mechanical seals for maintenance use

The following procedures are recommended to improve the accuracy of purchasing mechanical seals for maintenance use:

1. Movement situation - first determine the movement situation of the location of the mechanical seal, such as reciprocating, rotating, spiral or fixed.

2. Sealing key area - determine that the active point is the tie rod seal of the inner diameter or the piston seal of the outer diameter, etc.

3. Temperature grade - refer to the original machine operating instructions or evaluate the working temperature according to the actual working environment to determine the required materials of the replacing mechanical seal.

4. Size - Most users will choose the old used seals as samples, but the intentions to measure original sizes of the seals were greatly  hindered by factors such as temperature, pressure and wear after a period of use. A better choice is to measure the size of the metal groove where the seal is located.

5. Pressure level - refer to the relevant data in the original mechanical operating instructions, or infer the working pressure grade by observing the hardness and structure of the original mechanical seal
