The main sealing effect of the chemical mechanical seal is achieved due to the existence of the end film on the end face of the mechanical seal, and the final effect is determined by the shape and form of the end film. Since the sealed fluid will flash or boil when it is saturated or close to saturation, and thus undergo a phase change, resulting in a phase change of the end film. At the same time, the back pressure of the end face film will also change greatly, resulting in the end faces not being able to fit stably.

Therefore, the core of ensuring the sealing effect of the chemical mechanical seal is to ensure the stability of the end film, in other words, to ensure that the end film has no phase change, or even if there is, the fitting state of the end films cannot be damaged.

Based on this, when designing chemical mechanical seals, it is necessary to take reality for reference, and choose friction pair materials or fine sealing ring materials with as long life as possible. For double mechanical seals, materials with high corrosion resistance must be selected when talking about the inner end surface in contact with the medium, and materials such as WC rubber rings with good sealing reliability can be selected when the outer end surface not in contact with the medium are referred to.
