How to set up the flushing liquid pipeline in the flushing device of mechanical seals

04/07/2023
The most important working mode of all auxiliary facilities of the mechanical seal is flushing. There are two ways for the flushing fluid to enter the seal chamber: single-point flushing and multi-point flushing. Single-point flushing: the flushing liquid is flushed from one outlet, and can be divided into three types: radial, axial and tangential. Multi-point flushing: The flushing liquid enters the sealed cavity at the same time along the circumference of multiple small holes, and plays a flushing role.
An additional flushing oil system is required for the circular flushing of the double seals of high-temperature pumps or the injection flushing of the single mechanical seals. Wax oil is mostly used as flushing fluid in refineries. Due to the high viscosity of the wax oil, the fluidity is poor or even solidified at room temperature, so the temperature of the flushing oil is preferably around 100c. When the pump is shut down in the standby state, or in the process of starting and shutting down, in order to prevent the flushing oil from solidifying in the pipeline, it is necessary to set the valves A and B of the circulation line l (see Figure below). When starting to work, and the pump is not started, first open the valve A on the flushing line to circulate the flushing oil. After the pump is put into operation, the flushing oil enters the pump, and the valve A can be closed. If a pump is in standby and the flushing sleeve is also deactivated, the valve into the pump can be closed and the circulation valve A or B can be opened.
