Failure analysis of mechanical seal: leakage of mechanical seal, no contact trace of friction pair

Fault phenomenon
The mechanical seal is leaking, but although the two sealing surfaces of the friction pair have been running for a period of time, there is no trace of friction.

Cause Analysis
1. The top wire of the transmission seat fixed on the shaft and the shaft sleeve slips, and the transmission fails.
2. There is no contact between the stationary seat and the rotary face or the end face pressure is too small, which is a design or installation error.
3. When using the mosaic structure, the ring piece is loose.
4. The impeller nut of the cantilever centrifugal pump is loose, the shaft sleeve is withdrawn, and there is no compression.

Solution
1.For mechanical seals of the mosaic structure, the overall structure can be adopted if permitted.
2.The back cap of the impeller is loose, and a relaxed design can be adopted. Add a reversed-phase lock washer under the back cap of the impeller, and at the same time make a support for the lock washer, which is stuck in the keyway of the impeller. Improper fit clearance between the impeller and shaft can also loosen the back cap of the wheel, check the fit clearance.
3.For mechanical seals fixed by top wires, fork drive or pin and key drive designs can be adopted.
4.When end faces are not fitted because of wrong installation of the mechanical seal, it is necessary to accurately measure the positioning size. You can use the method of marking to process the positioning line on the shaft or sleeve to reduce installation errors.
