When the shaft sleeve should be replaced during failure analysis of the mechanical seal of the water pump

When there is a problem with the mechanical seal of the water pump because of either of the following two situations, the shaft sleeve of the water pump needs to be replaced:

One is that the installation length of the spare mechanical seal and the failed mechanical seal are the same, but the inner diameter is different. The other is that the installation length and inner diameter of them are both different.

For the first case, the mechanical seals with the same installation length and slightly larger inner diameter than the required parameter can be used for replacement during maintenance. The new matching sleeve must be processed according to the newly replaced mechanical seal. It should be noted that when processing, the diameter of the sleeve must be processed according to the installation inner diameter of the mechanical seal.At the same time, the material, dimensional tolerance, shape, and roughness of the shaft sleeve must be the same as before.

For the second case, you can select a spare mechanical seal whose size is close to the required one, and then convert it through a T-sleeve to ensure the sealability of the equipment. The gap between the pump shaft and the seal as well as the gap between the spring and the shaft shoulder must be sealed with a T-sleeve. In addition, the gap between the T-sleeve and the shaft shoulder must be dealt with, so as to ensure that the mechanical seal of the water pump has a good sealing effect both in the working condition or in the static state.
