What are the problems found in the quality sampling inspection of mechanical seals

The main function of the sealing ring on the stationary seat is to prevent the medium in the sealing cavity from flowing outside the cavity and causing a leakage. In the chemical or petroleum industry, there are usually two types of sealing rings quality problems found in the sampling inspection of mechanical seals:
1. Quality problem of tetrafluoro V -shaped sealing ring of rotary face:
① The quantity is incorrect. Generally, the V -shaped sealing rings are used in pairs.
If there are too many V -shaped rings, it will cause the rotary face to be unconcentric with the support ring, and the rorary seat, which will affect the sealing effect of the mechanical seal. If there are too few V -shaped circles, the mechanical seal will also not be able to achieve sealing effect because it cannot get the enough squeeze between rotary face surface and the support ring .

② The shapes of the V shaped sealing ring and of the support ring are not well-matched.In the process of testing, sometimes the support ring is not well-matched in shape with the V -shaped sealing ring. Therefore,the V-shaped sealing ring cannot be held on the shaft or its sleeve bacause it cannot get reasonable sueeze, which causes external leaks.

(2) Quality problem of rubber -sealing ring
The problem of the rubber sealing ring mainly occurs in the selection of materials. During the maintenance process, regarding personnel must check whether the material of the sealing ring meets the work conditions requirements.Because such a quality problem will cause a leakage of the mechanical seal in a relatively short period of time.For example, the phenomenon of carbonization due to high temperature or poor oil resistance will occur which can be avoided by material adjustments of the rubber sealing rings.

With the continuous improvement of science and technology and the continuous emergence of new materials, rotating machinery has generally adopted mechanical seals as shaft seals, which is particularly obvious in the oil and chemical industries.Compared with the gland packing seal, the mechanical seal has many advantages such as less leakage, longer service life, and smaller consumption power, but it also has the shortcomings of relatively complicated structure and high maintenance process requirements, which puts higher requirements for the maintenance personnel.As long as we strengthen the management of the intermediate process, it will inevitably improve the efficiency of mechanical seals and improve our production environment.
