The reactor is a large-sized equipment, and it is necessary to install the mechanical seal on the reactor one by one. However,to ensure its accuracy,the general requirement for the structure of the mechanical seal is that it is easy to assemble and disassemble. The environmental conditions and characteristics of the mechanical seal for reactors will be analyzed in the following context.
3.Stirring shaft top entry reactor
Stirring shaft top entry reactors are widely used, and the problems encountered by their mechanical seals are different from those mentioned above. Because the mechanical seal is placed on the upper part of the reactor, it is in the gas phase space (the material is in the liquid phase when the reactor is full), in order to avoid dry friction of the seal, a certain lubrication and cooling method is required. The top-entry vertically installed stirring shaft has a large length-to-diameter ratio, and the processing and installation accuracy may be low, so a large deflection will inevitably occur. During the movement, the following factors will aggravate the vibration of the stirring shaft: 1) Uneven stirring blades 2) The liquid level is too low or there is a vortex 3) The feeding is uneven, or the reaction does not well under control and the pressure and temperature fluctuations occur  5) Pressure and temperature changes resulting in the deformation of the stirring shaft and the reactor body 6) The speed of the stirrer changes suddenly, or the viscosity of the polymer increases due to cooling, etc.
The length-to-diameter ratio of the stirring shaft of the top-try reactor is large, and an intermediate bearing is usually adopted to provide a relatively vibration-free working environment for the mechanical seal, so that the mechanical seal can run smoothly.
The environmental conditions and characteristics of the mechanical seal for reactors have been analyzed above. The general requirement for the structure of the mechanical seal is that it is easy to assemble and disassemble. Many reactor mechanical seal failures are caused by poor installation. The so-called simplification of loading and unloading structure of the mechanical seal, specifically, is to design the mechanical seal as a flange and assemble it as a combination, and after debugging in the workshop, it will be installed on the reactor together during installation, without further adjustment, so as to avoid installation errors; When it is disassembled, it is removed together, and the repair and replacement of the old combination can be carried out in the maintenance workshop. In this way, the installation and maintenance process of the mechanical seal is greatly accelerated, thereby greatly reducing the loss of downtime in production.
