Common mechanical seals for high-temperature media pumps

Mechanical seals are commonly used on various pumps.Pumping medium may be at room temperature or at high temperature,and requirements for mechanical seals of these two kinds are different.Take  hot water pump and high-temperature oil pump as examples below.

⑴ Mechanical seal for hot water pump
The characteristics of this kind of mechanical seal are: rotary face and stationary seat are made of titanium whose expansion coefficient is small, and it is easy to fix the rotary face and stationary seat; Auxiliary seal adopts PTFE V-shaped sealing ring to ensure followability of the rotary face and stationary seat at working temperature; Flushing liquid cooler is used. The whole structure is simple, and it can ensure that the auxiliary sealing temperature is within the allowable working range of PTFE.

Among them, the heat transfer area of the cooler is 1 square meter, the tube length is 23.3m, the circulating water volume is 6L/min, and the cooling water volume is 60L/min.

⑵ Mechanical seal for high temperature oil pump 
In petrochemical and oil refining plants, hot oil pumps with higher temperatures used include tower bottom hot oil pumps, heat carrier pumps, slurry pumps, residual oil pumps, wax oil pumps, asphalt pumps, molten sulfur and plasticizer pumps.

Characteristics of this kind of mechanical seal are: sealing friction pair adopts hard vs hard materials, elastic element adopts welded metal bellows, shaft seal box and cooling jacket are used to reduce temperature, fin-cooling shaft seal box is used to protect the auxiliary seal, double structure is adopted,flushing is strengthened and so on .
