No adjustment required: Traditional bulk seals require measuring and setting the spring compression amount on the shaft, and a slight mistake can lead to seal failure. When the containerized seal leaves the factory, the compression amount is pre-set through the positioning piece. During installation, simply push the entire set of components into the pump chamber, tighten the gland bolts, and remove the positioning piece.
Ready to use: No need to measure, calculate, or adjust the size of the shaft sleeve on site, greatly reducing reliance on the technical experience of installation workers and shortening downtime for maintenance.
No risk of rubber ring aging: Ordinary spring seals rely on rubber O-rings as auxiliary seals between the shaft and the moving ring. At high temperatures (over 200 ° C), rubber will harden, carbonize, and fail.
Metal elastic element: The metal corrugated tube is made of stainless steel, Hastelloy and other metals, without the need for rubber assisted sealing, and can work stably in media ranging from -50 ° C to 300 ° C (or even higher). This is the main reason why containerized metal bellows seals are irreplaceable in the fields of oil refining and hot oil pumps.
Structure without blind spots: The gap between the spring seat and the inner diameter of the spring coil of ordinary spring seals are prone to the accumulation of high viscosity, particle containing or easily crystallized media (such as asphalt, syrup, tar), which can cause the spring to be stuck and fail.
External flow design: Metal corrugated pipes usually adopt an external flow design (medium flows through the outside of the corrugated pipe), and the corrugated pipe generates small radial jumps during rotation, which can automatically shake off or shake off particles attached to the surface, making it less prone to blockage. This makes it very suitable for working conditions where the medium is dirty and prone to coking.
Large compression capacity: The axial compression capacity of bellows units is usually much greater than that of ordinary spring seals (bellows can compress a long stroke).
Good followability: If the axial displacement of the pump is large (commonly seen in old-fashioned pumps or motor shafts), ordinary sealed springs are easily crushed or disconnected. And the corrugated tube is like an elastic "sleeve" that can always tightly adhere to the surface of the shaft sleeve, with excellent dynamic adaptability.
Single point seal: In ordinary spring seals, there are many leakage channels: the end face of the dynamic and static rings (main seal), the O-ring between the dynamic ring and the shaft sleeve (secondary seal), and the O-ring between the static ring and the pressure cover.
Integration: In the metal bellow cartridge seal structure, the moving ring and the bellows are often welded together, and the other end of the bellows is directly connected to the shaft sleeve, omitting the most fragile O-ring between the moving ring and the shaft. Therefore, the potential leakage path has been reduced, and the overall reliability of the seal has been significantly improved.
Wide material selection: Metal bellows can be made of Inconel alloy ®)、 Hastelloy alloy ®)、 Advanced corrosion-resistant materials such as duplex stainless steel can resist corrosion from strong acids, seawater, acidic gases, etc.
High strength: Corrugated pipes welded with multiple layers (usually 2-3 layers) of thin plates perform well in terms of pressure resistance. Combined with a containerized gland structure, they can withstand high pressure differentials (up to 40 bar or even higher) that ordinary single end seals cannot withstand.
