Mechanical seal sealing ring cold mounting operation guide

23/11/2023
1.Scope of application
This following specifications are applicable to stationary seats, rotary faces of the mechanical seals and non-standard mechanical seals that require cold mounting and their assembly interferences are not greater than H7/t6 (for example, mounting fit: H7/p6, H7/r6, H7 /s6) or the ring seats are not suitable for hot setting assembly.
2.Ring seat and ring material of the mechanical seals
(1)Ring seat material: carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium, low expansion alloy, etc.
(2)Ring materials: various types of carbon graphite and electrochemical graphite impregnated with resin or metal; cobalt-based, nickel-based, nickel-chromium-molybdenum-based tungsten carbide; atmospheric pressure sintering, reaction sintering silicon carbide, carbon-impregnated silicon, etc.
3.Operating procedures
(1)Prepare component drawings, related parts drawings and cold-mounted parts according to production requirements.2. Visually inspect the mounting area of the parts to ensure there is no damage, and clean and dry the parts for later use. 3. Select special support washers suitable for various types of ring seats of mechanical seals to ensure that the ring seats will not deform when the insert ring is pressed in.(4) Apply anaerobic glue evenly to the mounting area of the ring seat of the mechanical seal, and press the mounting ring parallel into the seat with enough pressure to overcome the interference resistance and make the ring and seat of the mechanical seal fit.(Pay attention to the introduction angle of the setting ring and the direction of setting) Wipe off the residual glue on the surface, and use a 0.02mm feeler gauge to check the fit between the ring and the seat of the mechanical seal.(5) Visually check whether the relevant parts of the ring and seat of the mechanical seal are deformed or injured.(6) Perform stress relief treatment (release part of the remaining stress). The specific operation method is to place the mounted assembly in an oven, raise the temperature to 80°C, and leave it at this temperature for 8 hours. (Keep it in the furnace overnight if possible) (7) After the mounting inspection of the mechanical seal is completed, move to the next process.
